End of Year Review

WHAT HAPPENED IN 2022

  • January: Moved to the farm
  • April: Moved the horses to the farm – that’s been my dream since I was a little girl
  • May: Finished renovating my office (a second-hand donga). I love my space so much!
  • August: Released my third book, A Dragon’s Soul, completing my debut trilogy. Produced all three books in hardback. Sold my books and swag at CapriCon (my first con) and was a speaker on my first panel, “From Spark to Story”
  • October: Sold my books and swag at Mack PopCon
  • November: Had a solo overnight visit to Brisbane where my children’s book was accepted into the State Library of Queensland’s shop (I also got to see the 2Cellos in concert while I was there!)
  • Made $1053AUD on Amazon in 2022, compared to $810AUD for 2020 and 2021 combined.
  • I am really pleased with how I did with in-person events – I haven’t done a proper stocktake but I believe I sold over 200 physical copies of all my books (three UF novels in paperback and hardback options and one children’s book).
  • 293 books (ebooks and print) sold on Amazon.
  • 59,600 KU page reads (equalling approx. 284 read throughs).
I’m pleased with my growth but I’m hungry for more! My goal is to eventually earn enough money from my sales so that my husband doesn’t have to work away so much. So that we can all spend more time together as a family while the kids are little.

2023 PLANS

  • Attend the 20Booksto50k Adelaide conference in January
  • Release The MINATH Chronicles Omnibus ebook edition
  • Release two short stories
  • Research actual costs for producing The MINATH Chronicles in audio and make a Kickstarter or Patreon account in order to fund their production
  • Run Amazon and Facebook ads and continue learning how to make them profitable
  • Write and release the first book in my new series, Magic and Motherhood. I intend to run a rapid release for this series but considering how many other items are on the personal list of goals, I’m not going to beat myself up if I don’t manage to write 3 novels in 2023
  • Personal goals: Finish renovating and sell our old house so we’re not trying to maintain the upkeep on two properties. Purchase cattle for our farm. Support my son in his first year at school. Support my daughter through kindergarten. Make time for me and my husband

You all know I try to be authentic and open about my journey. The past year wasn’t great for my mental health – my dog died and I was in and out of hospital with unknown heart issues in the first half of the year (at 29-years-old that shouldn’t have been something I was worried about). But I am loving being an author and I wanted to share my figures with you. Thank you for being along for the ride and for all your support. I love receiving messages from my readers and I adore the beautiful friends I have found in the indie author community. I plan to keep producing books, improving my craft, learning how to market, and growing my income for my family.

Fly fierce and strike strong, friends! I hope you have a happy and successful 2023, however you define success.

    Sincerely,
    The Aussie Dragon,
    April
